Important Reminder For Upcoming Coaches Information Session 12/1

The Virginia Association Director will be hosting an online session for coaches this Wednesday.  He will provide an overview of this season, event schedule, and recommendations on preparing.   See VOICES website www.vaodyssey.org for telecon info.

Odyssey of the Mind in the COVID years

Much to the disappointment of your NoVA North Board, there will not be a traditional Regional Tournament in Spring 2022 but there will be a Virtual Virginia Tournament similar to last year.  So, in the spirit of Odyssey of the Mind, let’s work cooperatively with the materials and information at hand to make this year a valuable learning experience for our team members.
Here’s what the adults in the room need to know:
-Problem synopses are available here; the link is also on our website.
-There is a lot of information available on our website; for coaching information check on the Coaches menu and the Resources page.
-Experienced coaches are ready and willing to mentor newer coaches in our region.  Contact the directors  to get connected.
-Memberships are available from CCI https://www.odysseyofthemind.com/join.
-A Coach Information Session -Season Overview will be held online Wednesday 12/1/21 7:00 PM
-Team registration for the Virginia Virtual Tournament 2022 will run 12/12/21 – 1/30/22
-A Coach Information Session -Submissions will be held online Sunday 2/6/22 7:00 PM
-Team submissions (long term) run from 2/13/22 to 3/4/22
-Team submissions (spontaneous) run from 3/6/22 to 3/20/22
-Balsa weigh in (Problem 4) will be Saturday 3/12/22 in person by appointment in McLean VA
-Virginia Tournament Ceremony Friday 4/1/22 online
We will post information about online training and World Finals as soon as it becomes available.

School Coordinators Meeting

A coordinators meeting will be held at 7:30 pm on Monday, September 27, at Dolley Madison Library in McLean.  This is intended for current coordinators and for anyone who is interested in being a liaison between the Odyssey organization and team coaches for a school or other sponsor.  We hope to make a zoom option available.  Details and a pre-registration form can be found on our event page .

Looking Ahead to 2021 – 2022

As the world starts to recover from COVID-19, and vaccination rates allow reopening, we are excited to announce our expectation to return to a more traditional Odyssey of the Mind competition in the 2021-2022 school year.
