Amy Montie, a long-time coach, will speak about team building and brainstorming, after which she will be available for questions.

Spontaneous kits are available this year! Each kit contains all the materials needed for 20 updated spontaneous problems to use with your team. The cost is $25.00; they must be purchased in advance at https://www.novanorth.org/wp/?page_id=3548 . A PayPal account is not needed; a credit or debit card can be used without logging in to PayPal. Up to 5 kits may be purchased in a single transaction.
The kits will be available for pickup at the Coaches Q&A session on December 2 or by arrangement in the Reston/Herndon area.

—All coaches and school coordinators are encouraged to attend orientation on 21 October from 0830-1230. You will get an overview of the program, pointers for getting your team started, and an introduction to resources to help you throughout the season. You will also get an introduction to the Spontaneous Problem portion of the program.
—There is no cost to attend but we ask you to register so that we have sufficient materials.
—Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start to sign-in and get seated. We will start promptly at 0830.
—Bring a snack and beverage.

Odyssey of the Mind is starting a new season! Once again, Region 9 (Nova North) and Region 12 (Nova South) are joining forces for our events. A flyer is available for distribution in both English and Spanish.
Anybody who is interested is invited to an Information Session next Saturday, September 23, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Sully District Community Rooms; the address is 4900 Stonecroft Blvd. Come to learn more about what is planned and all the ways to support this wonderful program where kids can work together to develop creative solutions to a fascinating problem and have a great time learning new skills and showing off the amazing things that they can do.
